Doubting Thomas

Jesus did everything with intention
So let’s pay attention as doubt works to redemption
You see Jesus had the schedule
His planner was up to date
So no it wasn’t just fate
That Jesus revealed His Resurrection
When all were there but one person.
He knew Thomas wouldn’t be in the room.
So why did Jesus leave Thomas out?
It wasn’t to mark him as the one who had doubt
No He let Thomas sit in his grief
And wrestle with his unbelief
So he could then experience what it is to be whole
Healing, was always Jesus’ goal
He knew Thomas’ heart had a part
That needed a rebuild
That needed to be washed clean and refilled
So He let Thomas come face to face with that pain
For the sake of all that Thomas could gain
He gave Thomas the space first to question
So he could fully receive then the gift of the Resurrection
We see in this story not a Savior who leaves out
Or reprimands someone for their doubt
But a shepherd who goes back for the one
Who races to embrace the prodigal son
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd, I go back for my sheep”
So He didn’t leave Thomas in his disbelief
Doubting Thomas isn’t a story of one man’s mistakes
But one of Jesus doing whatever it takes
Whatever it takes to mend our hearts and repair
Even if i’ts bringing our weakness to air
So we see that Jesus shows up true to His word
And that is the message that needs to be heard.
