dampened spots upon a page
become wrinkled patches as they age
perhaps marking the spot of emotion run deep
but no, it cannot, it’s a sure sign of sleep
yes here lie the driplets all shriveled and gone
the result of eyelids held open too long
of a face that fell resting flat on this book
a quick short nap this dear writer took
and out-poured no eloquence, words, or musings
but rather deep breaths, a snore, and some droolings
